Sports & Fitness On Your Sicilian Holiday
There are some really great activities to do in and around Siracusa if you're keen to enjoy your Sicilian 'pasta and gelato' holiday experience but are also conscious of your health and body...
Siracusa offers the possibility of a range of sports, cycling or hiking trails. From water sports, as one would expect from a costal town, to golf, riding, flying, trekking, horse riding and canoeing.
Our particularly mild climate makes outdoor activities possible even in the late autumn and early spring. Look out for the brown tourist guide signs for 'Nature Reserves' dotted along the roads. Parking is not always well thought out and neither are the roads to get to places but if you prefer to go off the beaten track then do your research prior to heading off. There are an abundance of passionate bi and multi lingual tourist guides also just waiting to show you around so please do ask a member of the Hotel Algila or Hotel Antico Roma 1880 reception team who will put you in the right direction for all your leisure needs.
BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT or CAR
If you prefer to go it alone then you can try with public transport using the app / web 'MOOVIT'
We are also able to support you with transfers to locations that public transport does not serve if you prefer a trek or cycle in solitude, away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
WALKING HIKING TREKKING
There are endless places to enjoy the views and be in nature. Trails and paths litter Siracusa and bordering towns and villages.

These can be used for a trek into the countryside, a leisurely ride to the beach, or to get around the city on two wheels. Those with small children can also be accommodated using the bicycle seats provided.
Navigating the surroundings on bicycle has never been easier, particularly since Siracusa recently inaugurated a cycle path to the north of the city. Not only does it offer spectacular views along the beautiful coast but from a northward vantage the magnificent volcano Mount Etna looms in the foreground. MAP MY RIDE is a great site that allows you to find all the best cycle routes in and around Siracusa.
